I mean… why? Just, why?

Inception, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Google Analytics

So, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has totally helped my blog get hits.

Allow me to explain.

Like many other bloggers, I use Google Analytics to track visitor activity on this here blog. Don’t worry, shy stalker folks, it doesn’t tell me who you are — just how you got to my site (directly or from a referring site), which pages you looked at, how long you looked at those pages, etc. It helps me find out what the people who come to my site actually do with it.*

Since the release of Inception there’s been a surge of interest in JGL, prompting searches for his tumblr, which I mentioned in a post dedicated to the man himself last September, a post that (much to my surprise and glee) now shows up any time someone googles “joseph gordon levitt tumblr.” Why anyone ventures below the actual link to his tumblr to click on my article is beyond me, but hey, I’ll take it. Go, Internets.

If you happen to be someone who reached my site on your hunt for JGL,  hello and welcome. Feel free to take a look around. Maybe you’ll find we have things in common besides our love for Joe and Inception, and our incredibly good looks. ;)

Speaking of Inception, have you seen it yet? I hope so. I recommend it to everyone because I love it, love it, want some more of it. I realize it’s now in that dangerous time of being potentially overhyped after its explosive release, but still… see it.

And then maybe see it again.

*Semi-interesting fact: the most-clicked categories on this blog are personal, marriage, and sex. Ha, people are nosy little buggers, aren’t they? These categories also happen to be kind of sparse. I can fix that.

And… Action

It’s been quiet here on the blog lately, but (for once) for good reason.

We’re making a movie!

Back in October, a friend of mine asked if I’d be interested in casting his first feature film. I had briefly interned at a small casting agency where I quickly grasped the mechanics of it all, so I jumped at the opportunity to get my feet wet and get my first credit as casting director. It’s no secret that I love actors, so naturally I had a blast doing it.

Then a number of setbacks arose during pre-production, which postponed our start date from November to January. I stepped in to take on assistant directing/producing/anything-else-you-need duties for the project. Since I was about as uninvolved as I could be in film school, this is the first time I’m working directly in the field I want to pursue. And for free no less. Ah, independent film.

We just completed our first weekend of shooting with a couple cast members and a teeny-tiny crew. So far, it’s been chaotic, educational, exhilarating, only semi-stressful, and fun fun fun. We’re shooting on weekends for the next several weeks, so hopefully I’ll get a little better at posting in the between-times.

In other news

Tomorrow I’m off to the mystical land of Park City, Utah for the second half of Sundance. It’s just my mom, my sister, and me this year as my dad has decided to go back to school. He starts the Executive MBA program at USF this weekend.

As usual, I am beyond excited for these next few days. I’ll be posting my reviews of the 10+ movies we see here, plus any sightings I deem exciting.

Hoping to rub elbows with a bunch of indie film folk this year. Especially these guys.

Double woot!

Speaking in Absolutes

(Generally speaking)
The two things that anyone wants to hear from their partner are:

“I will always love you”

and

“I will never leave you”

They’re also the hardest to say and virtually impossible to guarantee.

But we promise anyway and we want to believe in our word.

Also, semi-related, watch Away We Go.
